We are a broad-based coalition of communities, unions, and concerned citizens united in retaining self-government by the people of Detroit. We oppose the Emergency Manager Law (Public Act 4) as well as two illegal strategies which stem from it: (1) The Financial Stability Agreement, signed by the Detroit City Council, which strips away the power of our elected officials, and (2) the imposition of the Detroit Public Schools Emergency Manager, which has left our school system in ruins.

Hey Detroit - Running Water is a Human Right!
Get out and participate in FREEDOM FRIDAYS. The past few weeks we've been outside the Detroit Water Board Building raising awareness about the shutoff of 1500-3000 residents each week. The Emergency Manager's team is aiming for 120,000 residents this year. Meanwhile corporate water bills well in excess of $500,000 remain unpaid.
Maude Barlow, National Chairperson of the Council of Canadians came to Detroit to listen to concerns and hold a discussion about water rights.
