Let It Rip: Krystal Crittendon running for mayor of Detroit (Video)

Let It Rip: Krystal Crittendon running for mayor of Detroit (Video)

Krystal Crittendon was Detroit's top attorney before being demoted by Mayor Dave Bing. She fought hard against the consent agreement between the city and the state. She lost the battle and her twice-appointed job, but now she's in the fight to become the next mayor.

Notable moments in the clip

As Steve Hood says - packing the Motown Room at Bert's was an impressive feat.
Krystal Crittendon states we need to go after the money that is due to the city... Mayor Bing is not asking the State of Michigan for what is due to the City of Detroit.

When an official allows additional debt to be placed without taking the action to pull money in that is due to the city that amounts to criminal activity.

One of the key remarks Ms Crittendon has made on radio and in her announcement was "Detroit does not need an emergency manager. Detroit needs to manage its emergency." The emergency apparent is one declared through a review team brought together by the Bing administration and State of Michigan. That review team was taken to court and a ruling came forward that they did not have to abide by the Open Meetings Act. So who reviews the work of this group to ensure it follows the law of the city - Corporation Counsel.
